Here at Preserver Haven we are able to encapsulate your comic book in a polyester slab. 

Polyester Slab. The slab consists of: 3 layers of 100 micron (4mil Imperial) polyester – aka mylar, a 1.5mm polycarbonate clear backing board, microchamber board/paper and fully sealed. The clear polycarbonate board is isolated from the comic book due to the inner layer of polyester.

Label. The polyester slab can be labeled or not labeled. A template for the label can be found here. The width of the label depends on the width of the board. Board widths are below. The height of the label cannot exceed 51mm.

*NB A labeled comic book will not fit in a standard comic box*

Size. Labeled. The height of a labeled slab is 299mm. Magazine height is larger and will depend on the size of the book. The width of the polyester slab starts at 195mm and will depend on the width of the board and the thickness of the comic book. Not Labeled. The height of a polyester slab without a label is 275mm. This will fit in a standard comic box.

Why. There are many reasons you may want to archive your comic book in a polyester slab. Sentimental, financial, displayable and archival are just a few reasons. It is up to you to decide why you want a polyester slab. Polyester is recognised for archival use by many museums worldwide, with endorsements from the Library of Congress for the particular polyester used at Preserver Haven.

How.

1. Confirm the size of your comic books with the details below or with Preserver Haven via Facebook or email.
2. Send your comic books to the address below. Shipping costs are to be covered by the customer.
3. Once received, slab sizes will be confirmed.
4. Invoice sent.
5. Once payment has been received, the comic books will be encapsulated.
6. Packaged and shipped back to you. All shipping costs are to be covered by the customer. Shipping is to include insurance, tracking and signature upon delivery.
